In recent days, the Private Integrated School of Železiarne Podbrezová welcomed a distinguished guest: H.E. Cai Ge, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Slovakia. His visit to the Horehronie region was part of a broader mission to promote cultural exchange and enhance cooperation in areas such as education and tourism.
At our school, Ambassador Cai Ge toured classrooms and training facilities, met with students, and had engaging discussions with school leaders. As a gesture of goodwill, he presented Principal Miriam Pindiaková with a symbolic gift—traditional Chinese calligraphy, reflecting shared respect between cultures.
This visit reflects not only growing international ties but also Železiarne Podbrezová’s long-standing commitment to youth education, sports, and regional development.
Introducing Kung Fu into Vocational Education
Together with the town of Brezno, the Shaolin Cultural Center Slovakia, and the local Primary and Nursery School, we’re preparing to launch a unique program: specialized kung fu sports classes.
These classes will go beyond martial arts. Students will be introduced to the deeper philosophy of kung fu, which promotes discipline, self-defense, mental well-being, and harmony between mind and body—an ideal addition to the well-rounded education we offer.
Global Opportunities for Students
Brezno has also initiated cooperation with the historic Shaolin Monastery, which has more than 1,500 years of tradition. Students who develop a passion for kung fu will have opportunities to further their studies at the Faculty of Physical Education, Sports and Health at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica.
What’s Next: A Delegation Trip to China
In April 2025, our principal will join a delegation including representatives from Brezno, Matej Bel University, and the Shaolin Cultural Center Slovakia on a visit to China.
The itinerary includes visits to Dengfeng, Henan University, and the Shaolin Friendship Primary School. During the trip, we will sign a Memorandum of Cooperation with Shaolin Friendship Primary School—opening new doors for educational enrichment and intercultural learning.
