Behind every successful company, there are often quiet but impactful acts of kindness. At Železiarne Podbrezová, it’s not just about steel and technology—we’re equally committed to helping people when they need it most. Through the Železiarne Podbrezová Foundation and the Miško Soták Foundation, we support organizations, communities, and individuals facing challenging life situations.
In 2024 alone, we distributed over €200,000 – and every euro had a purpose.
Our support reaches far beyond our immediate region. We’ve helped groups like Svetielko Nádeje (Little Light of Hope), which supports children with cancer, and we consistently invest in education, with one of the key recipients being the Private Integrated School of Železiarne Podbrezová, preparing students for modern careers.
Healthcare is also a top priority. Significant funding went to Brezno Hospital, where internal medicine and neurology departments were renovated. We’ve also supported ŽP employees raising children with severe health conditions, and contributed to Agel Hospital in Košice.
Sports and community traditions matter, too. Our annual Youth Football Tournament for the General Director’s Cup remains a beloved event thanks to ongoing support from our foundations.
A New Car for Kamilka – Mobility and Peace of Mind
Twelve-year-old Kamilka from Brezno has cerebral palsy. She’s an optimistic child who loves school, but her condition requires daily care and frequent rehabilitation, often involving long trips. Unfortunately, their old car had become unreliable and couldn’t accommodate her wheelchair.
Her mother reached out to various organizations for help. With the support of the ŽP Foundation, they were able to raise enough funds to purchase a Volkswagen Touran—a reliable vehicle adapted to their needs. Today, Kamilka can travel comfortably and safely, opening up new possibilities for therapy, education, and family life.
Kristína Součeková – An Exhibition That Healed
Kristína, a passionate high school student from Horehronie, loves both singing and painting. Her life was suddenly interrupted by a serious leg injury, leading to a long hospital stay. But thanks to her family’s support – and the healing power of art – she found her way back.
The Železiarne Podbrezová Foundation supported Kristína in organizing her own art exhibition, where she not only showcased her paintings but also sang for the guests. Her story touched many, and she’s already preparing her next exhibition, titled “Success.”
Miroslav Čontofalský – A Folklore Dream Fulfilled
For years, Miroslav has been performing with folklore ensembles across Slovakia. But deep down, he always dreamed of recording his own music. With encouragement from family, friends, and a grant from the ŽP Foundation, that dream came true.
He released a solo album featuring 16 songs from eastern Slovakia and Horehronie—connecting regional traditions through music. For Miroslav, it’s more than a CD; it’s the start of a new chapter in his musical journey.
Helping others can take many forms—sometimes it’s a new beginning, other times it’s daily relief. The foundations of Železiarne Podbrezová are here to make sure these stories continue.
